These photos of Jimmy are taken from 1980. The show actually began in 1975 when Saville asked viewers to send in their requests on the national television programme Nationwide. The show received 350'000 letters annually, during transmission the show received 4'800 letters per day.

"Fix It's" included blowing up a cooling tower, flying with the royal air force, burning one million pounds, and going to Fawlty Towers to meet Manuel.

Jimmy is also well known for his charity work. He ran for charitable causes and is also known for going to hospital to meet sick children.

Jim'll Fix It Badge.

Below can be seen some of the other people who Jim fixed it for, with the shiny square "Jim'll Fix It" badge. When the show began, Jim would be seen sitting in his chair (which was more like a throne) the chair had various secret compartments containing the Jim'll Fix It badges.

Catchphrases

Jimmy was often being impersonated by famous comedians of the time, and his much parodied catchphrases include - "Now then, now then, boys and girls" and "Howzabout that then" and "What have we got here then". He was also well known for his gold jewellery and cigars.
