it that hasn't already been said at TV Cream.
Classic after
school viewing about a school. Grange Hill was
set in an inner city school, the programme dealt
with issues facing teenagers such as drugs,
alcohol, bullying and teen pregancy. Although it
dealt with these issues it also had a good
balance of light hearted comedy moments. Shown
left are two of the characters from the 1988
series. Left scouser Ziggy (George Christopher)
and Robbie (John Alford) who later went on to act
in London's Burning. It was produced by Ronald
Smedley and written by Phil Redmond and actually
filmed in a real school. Other charachters from
this series include Gonch, Cally, and Mauler
McCaul and Imelda Davies the school bullies. This
programme is no longer shown on BBC television
but replaced by a series set up north called
Byker Grove.
